Luz M. Karas, MD
Luz M. Karas, M.D. is a board-certified pediatrician, trained at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital (State University of New York at Stony Brook, New York). Dr. Karas is originally from Colombia and trained at Pontifica Universidad Catolica of Ecuador, where she obtained her degree as a Doctor in Medicine and Surgery. After 7 years of training, she elected to come to the US to pursue further education in pediatrics. Dr. Karas relocated to Long Island, New York where she successfully completed training. she was awarded many times for excellence in teaching and leading residents. After graduating in pediatrics, she accepted a position at Hudson River Health Care in Long Island, New York.
Hernando A. Cardona, MD
Dr. Hernando A. Cardona was born in New York City and lived there until his father moved the family to Colombia. He did his medical school training there, graduating in 1994, and meeting his wife in college. Together they came to the United States in 1997, when he took his boards and finished his training at the Pediatric Residency Training Program at Beth Israel Medical Center and the Long Island College Hospital – a SUNY Downstate affiliated program. After finishing his residency, he stayed on an additional year as Chief Resident and moved down to Central Florida in 2003, where he lives with his wife and their three children.
